8 Unique things to do in Ronda with kids

I am partial to reading a blog or two before we visit somewhere new, who isn’t right?!

I suspect like you, I look for ideas on what to expect, little nooks and crannies that I might not otherwise find, how much activities will cost and recommendations on where we can eat.

When I researched Ronda, I was dissapointed that I found nothing of any real interest. Every blog listed the same activities; ‘see the bridge’, ‘visit the arab baths’, ‘get lost in the streets’…

Surely there was more to Ronda than that? Right?!

Of course there is. Here’s our creative list of unique things to do in Ronda with kids!

Journey into the centre of the New Bridge

The new bridge is the epi-centre of the town so why not take a visit to its very centre. From here your kids can learn about the construction of the bridge, the birds that frequent it and look through a hole down to the bottom of the gorge.

Cost: €2.50 for adults and free for accompanying kids.

Explore the canyon’s gorge

It will take you roughly fifteen minutes to walk down to the canyon’s gorge and then you can explore the semi-dry rock pools and look at the New Bridge above you.

Admire the garden with a view

Take a look around Casa Don Bosco and explore the flower gardens with views over the extensive valley of Ronda. From here you can see El Mirador de Ronda, the new bridge and the Alameda del Tajo park.

There are some very colourful displays of Andalucian tiles which are all hand made and painted.

Cost: €2 for adults and kids are free.

Eat out with the stars

After all that exercise, stop off at Hotel Montelirio; a Michelin starred, child friendly restaurant which has the only vegetarian-vegan menu in town. Sit on the balcony and admire the bridge and waterfalls below.

Cost: €10 per head.

Pretend to fly on the balcony

Head over to the glass balcony ‘Mirador de Ronda’ and look down. Press against the railings and pretend to fly like Kate Winslet in The Titanic.

The view from here is amazing and there’s nearly always a musician within the bandstand to entertain you. Take some bubbles for a truly kidcentric experience and watch them fly over the side of the gorge – the bubbles not the kids that is!

Take an art class

La casa de los suenos offers art classes to kids aged 7+. Open between Monday and Friday but closed for siesta time.

Cost: €10+

Run through the arch of Felipe V

Meander down the steep, cobbled roads and run through the Arch of Felipe V before crossing the Old Bridge. From here you can see the Arab Bridge and play pooh-sticks over the side. You could also run across and head to the gardens just opposite to spot the New Bridge from a different angle.

Sunset with the ducks

Watch the sun go down over Alameda del Tajo, play in the park and feed the ducks and geese (just not bread because it’s very bad for them. Seeds are much better).
