Jordan is possibly one of the easiest countries we’ve travelled to with kids and it’s definitely in our list of top countries to visit. This post is all about how easy it is to self drive Jordan with kids and why you should drive it too. If you’re having a holiday in Jordan with your kids and you’re worried about driving, don’t be! It was a great experience
How to Self Drive Jordan With Children
Here’s the best way to self drive Jordan with young kids in four easy-peasy, little steps. And yes, it really is that simple.
- Choose your hire car
- Book flights to Jordan
- Collect your car
- Drive Jordan
Choose your hire company
We always use rentalcars because they find the cheapest car company and give us big discounts on subsequent rentals. We rented through rentalcars on this occasion and everything went very well.
Book flights to Jordan
We flew out of London via Vilnius (Lithuania) and onwards to Amman, Jordan. Four of us flew to Jordan for £135 in total.
Collect Your Car
In order to collect your car, you’ll need
- The voucher. We always use a mobile voucher because we can’t print anything. You just need to download the app.
- A credit or debit card. We use our Revolut card for all deposits.
- Driving Licence
Revolut give us free cash withdrawals too
Self Drive Jordan With Kids: The Route
Unless you have loads of time you’ll need a route.
We decided on this occasion to stick to the west of the country and travel ‘The Old Kings Highway’ which provides an exceptional delight of old castles and ruins on a twisty route that scales mountains and nature reserves.
Where could you stay in Jordan with children?
5 ideas on where to stay
- Nomads Hotel Hostel
- Holiday Inn, Dead Sea, Jordan
- Al Nawatef Camp
- Bedouin Cave Little Petra
- Um Sabatah Camp, Wadi Rum
Things you could do?
Because we were travelling on a budget, we didn’t pay to do tours and we self-toured Jordan with our children very succesfully.
