An ibex (plural ibices) is a species of wild mountain goat, distinguished by large recurved, ridged horns. They rang in height from 0.69 to 1.09 metres and weigh 91 to 120 kg. Good things they’re super scared of people because I wouldn’t want to be rammed by one! The Ibex can live up to 20 years.

Ibex are herbivores; they only eat vegetation, such as shrubs, bushes and grasses. Grazing accounts for a significant part of their eating habits and due to the low nutritional value of their diet Ibex must spend much of the day eating. The Ibex lives at altitudes close to the snow line high up in the Alps during the summer and moves to lower altitudes in winter.

As a small child my favourite book was 'People of the World' which featured Inuits from Alaska, children from China and farmers from Peru. It was a glimpse into another world that would inspire me to wander the globe in search of something special.
